Through the organization Sustainable Harvest, our National Champion Auren Chacon, was invited to participate in the 7th Annual Event Let `s Talk Coffee (Hablemos de Café), which takes place in Nicaragua from 26 September to 5 October and which is attended by hundreds of producers, roasters, baristas and other representatives of the specialty coffee industry to share and understand the challenges of the coffee industry.
This year the Baristas develop an activity called, "Seed to Cup Challenge" takeing place from September 26 to September 30 in the region of Matagalpa, where Barista Champions of Europe, USA and Latin America are working together with regional producers and roasters, forming teams to choose / cut coffee, make the process of washing, drying, roasting, grinding and preparation of a cup of coffee.
Sustainable Harvest is proud to present the Seed to Cup Barista Challenge, with two teams of baristas spending four days in the mountains of Nicaragua picking, milling, drying and roasting the beans. The baristas will then present their coffee to an international panel of judges who will determine which team has created the highest quality single-origin coffee. The entire competition will be filmed, documenting every step the baristas take in the shoes of their supply chain counterparts. While the winner will be judged on the quality of their final product, viewers will see the drama behind the scenes, watching each challenge the competitors face as they create their own coffee--from seed to cup.
